 Do I prune my budlea bush now or next year?

I always prune it in autumn, just to cut down seed dispersal.

IMO Buddleia is real tough and whatever you do pruning wise will make it grow back with vigour!

They are tough as old boots, but my RHS pruning book says prune them "in early spring, with the onset of new growth, and after any danger of hard frosts".  (I assume you're referring to the standard purple buddleia rather than the orange flowered b. globosa).
