Hi all.
Alcoholism is is a problem you think you can manage along with the kind words and hugs from dear friends. Er, no! During the lockdown I found a wine supplier who delivered an assortment of wines in boxes so it was like a free-for-all. I don't regret doing that because it really hit home when I'm swigging wine at 9am in the morning to cope with the stress of our imminent house removal plus my OH's ill-health. He's really come up trumps for me but … no can do any more.

On Monday I'm going into The Pavilion on Ashton Road, Lancaster for a fortnight so it'll be the last time I'll see our cottage where we've lived for well over 33 years. 

You know how GG loves to write poetry but I'm sort of nicking this one.

 "Wish me luck when you wave me goodbye
When my OH's car leaves their drive.
Sometimes this is how we can survive
But it takes away all of your pride.

Don't be ashamed for what you are.
Get out of bed and watch how a rising star
Can glow in the heavens above
That enfolds you with all its shining love.

Never, ever feel you are unworthy
As I'm trying not to feel, but it's hard.
I'll write my past hurts on a card.
Burn them. Ashes for the removal bin.

GG, although it is no doubt sad for you to be leaving behind your home of 33 years, in another way perhaps you can think of this as a symbolic closing of the door on your past life, and your new home will be symbolic of opening the door on an entirely new one. 
I admire you greatly for first of all admitting you have a problem, and then for having the bravery to do something about it. 
Your new life will have YOU in charge of it, and not alcohol, and may it be everything you wish for.  I know it will continue to be hard work, but we are all willing you to succeed.
