Plum leaf curl on a new tree
« on: May 06, 2020, 17:30 »
Hi all,

We bought a plum tree from a local garden centre and planted it out on a new allotment over winter. It turns out it has a severe case of leaf curl (see photo) and from my research, this is caused by bugs overwintering on the tree. In other words, we bought it with them on.

We seem to have done a reasonable job of squishing/blasting them all off, although I'm sure we've missed some. My question is - as this will obviously impact its growth in its first (most important?) year, should we be looking to get our money back and just start again with a new one next year?
