there i was planting out the 1st and 2nd earlies when instead of 60 cm between rows and 12 inches betwen spuds ive done 70 cm between spuds and 13-15 inches between the rows    ??? lol at least the spaceing on the 28 rows of lates is right lol

It'll be fine if you look at it through 90 degrees (well probably not, but it sounded logical when I typed it  ;)::) :lol:
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

That might make earthing up difficult.  Is there any way you can rectify it?

Actually, thinking about it, you could just turn the rows by 90 degrees and earth up that way if possible. :)

yes thanks all for the replies i will have to turn 90 and earth up that way or create indivdual hillocks of soil for the plants

If you can get hold of bales of straw, you can simply use thick wads of that to 'hill up' your potatoes by mulching. I do and it works just fine, especially if its going to be a dry summer.

thanks trillium if i run into trouble i will i had thought aboutstraw water is not a problem however strawmaybe a good idea
