planting ideas
« on: April 02, 2013, 19:06 »
At work I have been given the task to plant out the gardens -  I work in a small b&b
The back garden is enclosed and fairly sheltered and is roughly a 20ft x 30 ft trapezium shape
I am looking for maybe 4-8 plants that will give interest for most of the year and will be very low maintenance and not looking to go above 4ft high.  I do have spac for 1/2 dozen pots  so I was going to plant spring/summer perennials but need autumninal perenniels ideas. This garden is only accessible to staff

The front gardens are already planted with a variety of different shrubs and  a couple of trees I would be looking for something about 1-2ft high. These gardens are just on the street and just has a 3ft fence.
The gardens face north west and the back gets the sun all day, the front gardens late afternoon onwards.

Thanks
Dmg

If you look on the Crocus website you will find loads of flower and shrub bed layouts with all the plant detail. There's layouts by colour and price and by type. It's a really good little tool. Go check it out for inspiration.  It sounds like an interesting project  :)

I usually read ehow.com when I need inspiration about gardening. Quite a lot of ideas there to pick from.
Here in Britain, men go down to the garden shed to get away from the kids and their mother.
