Title: Egg bound hen
Post by: alexroyall85 on March 21, 2019, 18:26
Hi all

I think one of my hens is egg bound. Is there anything I can do at home myself or is it a vet job?

Many thanks

There are a few home remedies.  Warm bath (make sure she is fully dry before putting her back outside), vaseline around the vent area and olive oil in her food.  Also somewhere secluded to be away for the others.  I've use a dog cage draped with a cloth in a cool room before now.

She will be extremely uncomfortable, so judge for yourself and get to the vet if you think you need to.  They may well be shut Sat pm and Sunday, so its worth thinking about today.

I hope she is better soon   :)

One of the large pet shops used to have a vet in store. I'm sorry I can't remember which but you'll find it online.

Pets at home maybe?
