Title: Any advice on how to show Runnerbeans and Jam

Anyone got any tips on showing beans how long ,etc and how do you present the jam  tips please, thought i'd have a go in a show this weekend  :)

hiya jamima well done for entering your 1st show ,i can only comment about the runner beans they need to be the straightest ones you have got and however many it stipulates in the agenda plus they all need to be the same length or as near as damit ,the jam someone wiser will be along shortly

most use the white plates but they don't show the veg up as well i made mine out of plywood and black cloth ,its just a preference thing

Pick them with a bit of stalk. Try not to handle them too much so that they retain as much natural bloom as possible. Certainly do not wash them.

Well thanks for the advice it was a bit late though ,did'nt enter because coudn't find any straight beans, had i known earlier about the t towel i could have entered never mind always next year, and did'nt enter any jam because all mine has fancy labels and thats not alllowed but did enter the dog in the oldie goldie competition and she came 2nd :) :)

Well done Jamima, at least you got something and second is very good.  Mr Mole says wasn't there a class you could have put Phil in to win you something.   :D
