Hi I wander if anyone can help me! We have had hens now for nearing 5 years and we have never seen this with any of our chickens!
Our chicken who is around 2 and half years old has recently had a really dirty back end we have been washing her in Luke warm water and keeping an eye on her.
Now 3 days later she can't carry any of her own weight she constantly sits on her tummy while her breathing is quite laboured she has been in and out of sleep for 2 days now and I honestly expected her to be dead today. But she isn't and has had a little bit of water! Her comb is still quite red but she is very weak as she hasn't eaten - I thought she may of had a stroke as the way she is acting it is like that. But it did all start with a really dirty bum, she hasn't laid an egg in well over a month now too - can anyone advise me?

Have you checked to see if she has a broken egg inside her.
