I thought I would share with you our new ladies that are now living with us.
We collected them this morning and put them straight into the coop. Five hours later, they were still in there and not interested in going anywhere (has been windy outside also),
So we gave them a gentle push to leave the house and go down the ramp and once one went, the other two followed.
Here they are in their glory 8) 8) 8)

Thanks Joyfull. Amazing that withing sitting watching for 30 mins you can already see their different personalities :-)
-
very nice ladies indeed alan, enjoy them, you think its great now wait until you start collecting the eggs!!!! nickyx

Awww congrats on your new additions, they look lovely :) 6 days and counting until I get mine Woo-hoooo :)
-
All the hard work getting the coop and run ready is worth it when your ladies arrive and it looks like it wont be too before they'll be laying eggs :)

Thanks for your posts. They really are fun. Two of them took themselves to bed, but our brown one (Aunt Doll) got a little lost and couldn't find her way until we showed her. Still they are all tucked up now in bed and not a single noise.
Best I set my alarm to get them open in the morning!
Carla - one tip - make sure you got plenty of time when you first get them - you will be spending so much time just watching them!!!

My poor kids are going to feel like orphans :) I feel like a child waiting for Christmas to come :)

I have made the awlful mistake of putting my girls run right outside my kitchen window, considering i spend all my time in the kitchen seems like the best place to stand and watch them lol lol lol nickyx

I've had mine for more than two years but I love spending time watching them. I was potato picking yesterday near their run and was watching one girl's antics as she was busy putting bits of straw on her back and fussing about in the nesting box. My favourite waste of time they are :D
-
Nicky - at least you can properly multi task in the kitchen.... just don;t be watching your chooks with a knife in your hand or a finger will be gone!
Well, they slept well on their first night - I set my alarm for 6.30 to get them up and open the door for them and put their food and water out. (I know what it feels like to run a B+B)
They are all confident today scratching about. Can't wait for when they can free range in the garden. Going to leave them in their own space for a week and then open the door and they can come and go during the day when we are here.

they look lovely :) hours of entertainment :D
-
ours are outside the kitchen window too :D they're there to distract me when I'm washing up
-
Awesome idea Evie..... maybe the hen house will be taking a move in the future :D

Beautiful, very healthy looking girlies. Entertainment at your fingertips, in HD and cheaper than Sky!! Welcome to the wonderful and very mad world of chicken keeping!

Oh they are beautiful! What lovely girls!

Thanks for the comments. They semm very happy and starting to recognise me when I go over. What is strange is that they don;t seem to eat anything apart from their mash and some corn for a treat. I have tried strawberries, mealworms, lettuce.. nothing. They just turn their nose up at it. I even put a corn on the cob on a suspended qire so they can peck at it.... nothing.
Is this strange? I thought they might bite my hand off for these treats.
I guess it's only day three with my ladies... but I do adore them.
-
give them time, at the moment the treats will seem strange to them if they have never had them.
-
I just think they will become Divas
Might have to rename them to true Divas.
