Title: Thanks to my old ladies!
Post by: Chrysalis on August 16, 2013, 13:18
My remaining two warrens, Beryl and Brenda, hardly lay anymore, so, to earn their keep, I put them to work in a border to help grub up ground elder roots.  I'd dug it over to break up the worst and then they had a go for an hour. What a fab job they made  :)

Lovely soil which just needed sieving.....only another 6sq.m to go.....

Any other uses I can put them to without losing all my crops?  ;)

Mine were lucky not to get decapitated on Wednesday when a neighbour was collecting some gravel from our path to recycle in her garden.  They were sticking their heads so far through the net fencing and were in danger of being shovelled up.  The neighbours daughter did not want to feed them all the worms out of the gravel so they had to gorge help themselves!   ::)

They are good at digging holes, but never in the place you want them to.   ;)

gotta love the chicken gardeners! Valerie and Dorothy are quite good at weeding, and having feathered feetsies they tend not to make too much of a mess.......so far  :D
