Title: First Incubator Hatching(s)
Post by: ANHBUC on June 12, 2013, 10:29
I can now properly sympathise with all of you who have stressed, watched in anticipation, stressed some more and peered longingly into the incubator.  Now on day 22 I have one hatched and I think two others pipping.  Two pipped last night and one has hatched and is stumbling about knocking the other eggs about so not sure about the other one yet.

So my new hatchling is a mixed breed bantam (light sussex x partridge Wyandotte bantam cockerel crossed with a welsummer bantam).  Well I had to put something in the incubator to try it out!   ::)  Legs look really sturdy so possibly another cockerel.  Still drying out but it has a funny aerial looking feather sticking out of its head, I hope you can see it from the first photo.     It is very vocal so hopefully it will encourage the others to hatch SOON!

Yes, it's calling to the others.  Telling them to hurry up as its lonely in there surrounded by eggs!  :)

Hope you get some more soon ANHBUC!

It is now cuddling up to one of the pipped eggs.  I think I need to go out as this is driving me nuts watching and waiting.   ::)

Congratulations, its great to watch though isnt it.

I love it when they have moments of scrambling over the other eggs chirping their heads off, and then they just cant keep their eyes open and have a snooze and then it starts over again.

For anyone who is hatchting, dont give up on the eggs that dont hatch at the same time as the others. I've had one hatch today that is 5 days later than the others.

Thanks for that info splash, I was getting a bit despondent that there is not more action.  I have always used a broody before and that seems to go like clockwork.

Just going to check if my quails have hatched under my super broody Dotty.   :)
