Getting ready to Pip
« on: June 20, 2010, 06:11 »
Ok no laughing now.

3 glasses of wine, chooks are in bed and I'm about to turn in.

Today is the day the Incy stopped turning.  I look at the eggs and oops - one looks very skew-whiff.  So I put it straight.  Half an hour later - quick trip to the loo and on the way back notice it is back in the same position (yes I know - Incy in bedroom - how sad is that ::))

So methinks - could have sworn I put that straight - blast I must stop drinking that wine - straighten it again - and low and behold, minutes later it's back where it was.

I reckon that one has a wicked sense of humour and is going to be my star cockerel.

Don't think I'm going to get much sleep tonight

I swear Casey had it in for me when she said prob. Wed.

1 last night then I waited all day and thought ' well that was a one off then' and suddenly they are hatching all over the place.  3 more out in the last hour and I reckon all the Wyandottes will hatch tonight leaving just the Lav Araucana - lazy devils.

EXCEPT the silver pencilled wyandotte I had off my local lady looks very BLACK and nothing like the first silver to hatch.

mmmmm  She was a little vague.  ::)

We had our incubator in our spare room as it kept an even temp, when it came to brooding we made a corral out of ply board and hung a ruby from the ceiling. One night we had a knock on the door and there stood two boys in blue wanting to know why I was shining a red light from my window (!)

Me - Its for my chicks
PC - Yeah right
Me - Honest, I got chicks brooding
PC - I've heard it all now, show me.
Me - Ok, but I'm telling you it's for my chicks.

So we went upstairs and opened up the door

PC - Well I be blowed (muttering into his radio, no Sarg its not a knocking shop, she's got chicks.............Sarg.........yes I'm looking at them..........listen (hold radio to the peeping chicks) Ok Sarg....out)) The other PC was in near hysterics with laughter  :D

Errr we went and bought a heat emitting only lamp, but apparently our lamp was shining out across the valley and someone presumed Cynthia Payne had moved in, lololol

Will do more pics soon.  I want to keep a good record of the markings before I forget

Whereabouts in Halesowen do you live?  Used to live in Windsor Close and Windsor Road.  My sister still lives there.
