Title: lumpy goldfish
Post by: coco on June 04, 2021, 16:45
Just looking for advise - we have a goldfish with white lumps (?) on it - tired comparing pictures but can't make my mind up if it's a fungus or a parasite or something entirely different.

For context a couple of little goldfish have died in the last month, but the other big ones seem fine and free free of the white stuff - also lots of sticklebacks and such like that have been in there for years and are unaffected.

Thanks in anticipation.

It could be skin ulcers that have become infected with bacteria or fungus.

If you can net that fish, the best option would be to put it in a bucket of pond water and add a little sea salt.  A mild salt solution can work wonders (1-3g per litre).  Keep the fish somewhere cool and shady and make sure you net the top of the bucket to stop any predators getting at it.

Sorry - I keep on forgetting to come back and update the post.

Thank you so much for the advice - I got a bucket and some salt and then I couldn't catch the fish, had to wait for a neighbour to bring a net and then the next time I looked in the pond, the fish was fine  :nowink: no marks or lumps on its whatsoever - I still have no idea what it was but it seems to have cleared up by itself.

Thank you.
