i iam hoping to have hens again but it has been about 20years since the last time and wondered what type  of breed i should go four have room for four or five hens . :D
remember plants can't read books

choose whichever you like the looks of - whether banties or large fowl  :)

   .... do lots of research, look at lots of pictures, go to lots of sellers ....

           ... and buy the chooks you fall in love with!

Depends on what you want bgb - reliable egg layers, pretty hens, unusual breeds, friendly hens that tame easily.  If you are going to let them free range, feathered feet can be good as it means less damage to the garden.

If you have a wish list that can narrow the choice, but finding a good local breeder with healthy happy birds can be a big consideration as well  :)

Hybrids lay more eggs and on the whole are less broody, some breeds are more inclined to be broody than others .

As has been said tho go with the birds you take a fancy to  :) mine are all colours of the rainbow, dont lay as much as the boreing brown hens but are much nicer to look at   :)
