Thanks for the advice Joyfull. Ive just learnt that I will have to wait till May next year as the farmer sells them off just once a year. They are not caged hens, just hundreds of them on slatted floors in barns. The ones I saw looked pretty bald, and they had been liberated for a few months, they were happy though.
Actually having to wait wont be a bad thing as they will have the warm weather (hopefully) and summer sun on their backs so they wont get cold.(Ill have to check for sunburn though.) Also I can get my newbies settled and get the second run properly fenced and ready for the poor wee things. I actually feel excited that Im doing something positive for animal welfare myself, not just admiring others for doing it!

I suppose you'll want names for them next so being exbatts they should be called Duracell, Everready, Varta, Exide, Enersys, Lucas, Tayna, Yuasa etc. :lol:
