I have 5 chooks all well under a year, my sussex bantam decided to go broody so i gave her eggs to sit on, all of them hatched and now she is a wonderful mother to them, they are nearly 3 weeks old, BUT NOW my large red sussex has taken to going broody i have tried to break this with not much luck i thought they only went broody in the springtime and supposedly in there second year is it to late for her to hatch chicks if i give her eggs to sit on???

Its not too late to hatch some more    Hens can go broody anytime they feel like it and Ive found you wont change their minds about it either

I think my 2 silkies and the one we think is a goldline x silkie are broody for 11 months of the year!
