Anyone used gripple tensioners?
« on: May 01, 2012, 12:48 »
I have seen plastic Gripple wire tensioners on the Two Wests website and wondered if anyone had used these?  I seem to constantly be retying wires and string etc in the greenhouse to support plants and these seemed to be a good idea.  I was thinking of using them with strimmer nylon wire.

It looks as though they work on a cam or pawl principle.  Possibly the strimmer wire/cord may be too shiny for the device to grip.

How about winding the string supporting your tom's around a half clothes peg and thyen stopping it undoing by a ring of wire around the peg and the wire.   Something like a
'Spanish Windlass'.              Just a thought.

Cheers,    Tony.

Sell loads of them where I work - farm supplies - but they're metal tensioners and there is a special tool needed to fix them...

Not sure what you have seen but here is the info on the company website:

If you click on the agricultural side, you'll see the ones I refer to.
