Has anyone tried using diesel heating oil in a paraffin greenhouse heater. I'm seeing paraffin here in Cambridge at 7.99 for 4 litres which seems extortionate ...

This subject has come up before and the advice given then is that it is a dangerous practice to use the wrong fuel.

Hi, I presume by diesel heating oil you mean kerosene. parrafin is refined more than kerosene and therefore not as smoky.

Yes heating fuel is kerosene apparently, and I have been using it in my parasene heater these last 3 days with the same effect as paraffin. I think the fact that the heater uses a wick means that it makes little difference about the grade of kerosene used. On the other hand pressure burners like tilly lamps would need the high grade paraffin.

Cheapest paraffin available here is £5.64 for 5 litres whereas kerosene is 30.9p/litre.
