Quick cheaty Chinese style BBQ pork

This is a cheap and easy way to a very good result.  Found it on the internet and made it  last night to wild aclaim from Mr Newshoot  :D  Didn't confess it only took 20 mins maximum to make  ;)

2 thick cut pork shoulder steaks
2 tbsp dark soy
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp sake/dry sherry
1 + 1/2 tbsp sugar
Pinch chinese 5 spice powder
You could also add a pinch of chilli powder if you like things spicy

Heat a small amount of veg oil in a deep pan that will hold the steaks in a single layer - you need a very hot pan to start
Season the pork steaks on both sides and fry on each side for 1 minute on high heat to get a good brown crust to the meat
Lower the heat and fry gently for 8-10 mins until cooked through, then remove from the pan
If you have a lot of fat in the pan, drain some, but you need a bit to finish the sauce
Mix all the other ingredients and pour into the pan
Scrape the base of the pan to get all the crusty brown bits into the sauce
Once the sauce boils, lower the heat and add back in the meat
Cook gently, turning often in the sauce until the sauce is thick and clinging to the meat

Slice the meat and serve over plain rice with the sauce spooned over
Some simply steamed chinese greens dressed with soy and a drop of sesame oil make a great side

That's my kind of food and it's good to have a recipe that doesn't have a million ingredients.  Might just give that a go soon. :)

If it's not a copy and paste job then there is no problem. :)
