Both mine and my neighbours carrots have been eaten and not by something small. Its not human as only the immature carrots are going. Ones about pencil thickness have been pulled up and eaten.
As we are an urban allotment Rabbits are out of the question. I had mice issues earlier in the year but I don't its them as they are getting pulled out of the ground rather than dug up.

Any ideas?

Mice do pull up small carrots as well as gnawing the tops of the roots. They often burrow in and the carrots get pushed up as they surface sometimes. It has been a bit of a problem for us too this year
