Buying a shed online
« on: June 07, 2017, 14:28 »
Anyone bought one recently and could recommend a good supplier?  I've done a search, but the threads are all fairly old.

I don't want to spend a fortune, but I want one that will last a few years.  I'd be looking at a 8x6 wooden shed  :)

I bought one from Berkshire Garden Buildings, displayed at Wyevale, Hare Hatch about 8 years ago for school... it is still standing strong 'cos I saw it yesterday

I think the Reading branch of Shedstore is somewhere near Gosbrook Road and they have free delivery: you can go and see them that way too

Hope that helps

Thanks Sunny  :)

I've had a quick look at Berkshire Buildings, but there are some great on-line deals for what looks like much the same thing.  Its only a basic 8x6 pent shed that I need, but I want windows down the side and for it to be pressure treated.

There is no immediate rush, so I'll ponder a while longer, unless someone has bought a shed recently and knows a supplier for decent quality at a reasonable price  :)

Some of the very cheap ones are cheap for a reason... very thin wood and flimsy roof, but I ma sure you know that really. Juts thought I ought to say so in case new "shed owners" read this thread 😀

We bought our first allotment shed on line and the roof was only that pressed woodchip stuff, the door was flimsy and didn't fit well, several of the "laps" warped very quickly, and the window frame itself was incredibly flimsy. It is only lasting as well because it is now protected under our sheltered area. The one bought for school had a decent outdoor ply roof, a very solid door and as I said, the walls are still sound, plus the window frames (one of which opens) are still going strong.

Greenfingers website have a lot of sheds but I can't attest to the quality although I wish I'd have bought one of the wooden bike stores instead of the plastic Keter store I bough recently for out side the back door, there's no room in it 😡 Very crosswith myself even though I got it £40 cheaper than they were advertising it.
