Not been on here a while as we have been on holiday. We've managed an few hours here and there doing a bit of digging, strimming and general pottering about. One question though. Does anyone know what kind of tree this is? Is it a fruit tree? If not im afraid it's gotta go. It's good to be back on the allotment 😊. Thanks

The leaf looks like pear.

 I was going to say a cherry or plum :D
It's so difficult to say just from the leaf shape
-
Don't think it's a plum but cherry is a possible ! :D

Thank you do much for the replies. If it's any help it is about 6 feet tall. If it is a cherry tree when can a expect it to blossom/fruit?
-
This is the only other picture I have.

I thought it might be a cherry, if so it will flower April time & fruit will be ready June/july

Cherry leaves have two raised bumps in the leaf stalk. The leaves in the photos don't so I doubt it is a cherry.
Could it be a saskatoon? ( Amelanchier alnifolia)

It seems to be growing as a shrub rather than a tree which is why I don't think it is a fruit tree. If it is a saskatoon it is a fruiting shrub. :)

I hope it's a fruit tree of some description. It looks like it will be staying a while to see what happens. Thanks all.

I think that could be a pear - perhaps once a trained shape left to go feral, hence the shrub like growth. Amelanchiers light up into really bright autumn colours and that leaf colour is pretty muted.
You don't see a lot of alnifolia about. Lamarckii is more widely known and is sometimes sold as June Berry, but has longer, thinner leaves.

Not a great looking rootstock , possibly cut off at ground level and regrown so i would not have high hopes for it .

I don't think it is a pear tree as there is one of those hiding in the nettles at the back of the plot😊

Spoke to a neighbouring alottmenteer and he has reliably informed me it is just a tree.😤 unfortunately not a fruit tree of any description so I'm afraid it has to go.
