I am soon going away for 4 weeks and am wondering what to do with my three orchids
Last holiday I left them with a neighbour and when I came back they looked awful (?waterlogged) and needed weeks of TLC
The holiday before I left them with my father in law who is determined that they should be in full sun in his conservatory   They were frazzled.
In my house they thrive in my utility room which is bright but with no direct sun and a relatively constant temperature. My question is would they be OK not watered while I am away? None of them are in flower or showing any signs.

Give them a good soak and let them drain properly, then keep them somewhere shaded and cool, and they should be fine for a month.
This would be true for most varieties sold as house plants really.
On your return, soak and drain again and they will be back to normal with no worries

Thank you SB; I hoped that this would be the answer! I think they will be much happier having a stay vacation this time :)

My friend leaves hers outside in the shade... to make sure they are not munched she hangs them, in their pots, in a tree
