Post by: chrissie B on March 05, 2008, 16:09
well at last it looks like the pear tree is going to bring forth fruit there are little clusters of buds which are a different shape the leaves being a cone shape so fingers crossed this may seem a silly question but do the pears grow in groups  :?:  :?:  :?:  we think it is a conference pear , its had some potash and plenty water as we have had no rain for a while now the buds are coming should i give it some more as we have waited so long for a pear don't want to c**k it up now .

Make sure you support the tree as the fruit  can make the tree top heavy especially with the terribble winds we have had in the last few weeks branches can easily snap

my tree is 5 years old now and has produced only 1 flower at the very top of the tree which grew to 9 ft , hubby brought in down a lot , it is leaning ab it to one side but had a thick trunk so i think it will  be OK , but i might try straightening it up after its fruited .
should i be adding any more potash now or later on  :?: .
the first flower is about to open its like waiting to open your Christmas present .
