Is it possible to plant a seed from the fruit of this plant, or do I need to take a cutting. There is one growing out of a wall near me so naturally thought I would help myself. Thank You.

if you can layer a newish branch while still connected to main bush peg down to soil cover the part you peg down with more soil this will then root when plenty of roots are on the branch can be seperated from main bush and planted in pot or open ground   works for us good luck

I take cuttings from gooseberry bushes each year.
I cut lengths about six inches a few months after the fruit has finished and the bush start to die down, but still ahs signs of buds.
Just place them in a pot and next Spring they will have strong roots, buds and start producing a set of leaves.
That is the time I transfer them to their main position. You will get some fruit the first year, but the following years they will become much more productive.

I find self-seeded (well probably with help from the birds) bushes growing all around my plot.
