Our house is also not very warm most of the time, especially in winter. The kitchen, where the orchids are, had only between 12 and 15 degrees celsius in winter, rarely up to 17 degrees with cooking. But my orchids thrive and flower regularly. They are orchids which need a cool rest time in winter and really dislike the warm and dry air in heated rooms. Only in summer our kitchen is humid and warm.
Such orchids are for example some Dendrobium species, Dendrochilum species, Oncidium hybrids and species, Cattleya and many others.
So also with a cool house, you don`t have to be without orchids.
