« on: April 12, 2012, 17:12 »
Hi folks. My sweet peas have been in the cold frame for a couple pf weeks now. When do you think they can be planted outside?

You can even sow them outside now!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Brilliant - thanks DD and LilacSandy... Jeez, the jobs are really stacking up for this weekend. DD, almost caught you up on the lobelia front... potted up about 200 clumps so far - no idea where I'm going to put them all!  ::)

Did you find this year there are more seeds in a packet than usual?

I normally buy 5-6 packs as there are only about 16-20 seeds in each one. This year there were over 40 in each pack so I have over 200 plants this year!

Love sweet peas - planting mine out this afternoon. They've survived the last coupl of days when we've had a light frost.

A couple of years ago I sowed sweet peas at the end of September, ( unheated greenhouse)
had them in a cold frame from December and planted out beginning of February and had the first blooms by first day of May.
They are much tougher than most people think, mine were frosted over a good few times and it did not check their growth or cause any damage.
