I am attaching a photo of one of my fellow gardener's courgette attacked by a beastie. Several of her courgettes (she has the flattish ones and kind of J

Sorry this is still Anton. I was too quick on the buzzer and my message went flying off. So to resume.

... and Japanese-style courgettes. Several of her courgettes have got holes in them like in the photo. We do not think they can be slugs. Any ideas what they are and cures please?

It does look like teeth marks in that courgette, but I wonder if you would find those little black slugs inside, if you cut one open.  They can make tunnels into potatoes, so a courgette would present no problem.

I reckon it's probably a smallish slug. I've got some similar holes on one of my pumpkins and those were definitely slug related because I caught him at it!
