Do hens swear ? I think they frequently tell me what they think of me when i foil one of their devious plans to get to places they are not meant to be.
I am sure that if i could really understand what they are saying they would be getting their corn rations cut.

I'm sure they swear, especially when they've ran all the way down the garden because they've heard the back door go - only to find you've not brought them any treats out!  :blink:

Absolutely Yes.  Mine swear at me when I take them out of the nest box or lift them off house floor onto the perches and the other night when I forgot to let them in. They swear at each other and the dog.  Don't understand the langauge, which is just as well because I am sure it' FOWL    Soz

I don't think chickens swear as much as seagulls or indian minahs.  Some of them are downright rude!

In the spring we had a pair of blackbirds nesting in our neighbours' guttering, overlooking our garden.  Every time I went out into the garden the blackbirds would swear loudly at me and make threats about what they would do to me if I came any closer to their nest.

I refused to be intimidated so would shout back "OI! Don't speak to me in that tone of voice!" 

Those birds really lowered the tone of the neighbourhood.

We just moved house over the weekend, and our hens were swearing at us as we tried to catch them and secure them for the move.  It was ugly!   our top hen was the first to get caught and she carried on terribly in the box.  Now I know what the old saying means - "Madder than a wet hen"!

Oh littleredhen, I've never heard that expression before. I'll have to remember it and try to slip it nonchalantly into a conversation some time soon. Fantastic.

Absolutely.  When one of our hens is taken off the nest because she's always broody she stomps around the garden swearing for at least 30 minutes - and she manages never to repeat herself  :blink:.  Occasionally she gets violent at the same time so watch for pecked legs while she swears at you.    Its like closing time on a Saturday in a city centre pub.
