my shallots went in around two weeks ago, no show as yet. and my onions are sitting patiently in the shed spread out in a tray, ive planted around a dozen or so into modules and pots but at this rate with the weather being so random i think ill pop up the rest to give them a head start. only problem is im quickly running out of space in the plastic greenhouse. may have to buy another.

My garlic is sitting quite happily haven gone in in November.

Got 300 onion sets to get in, but they will have to wait until towards the end of April now I think (Weather + packing and moving house).

I have planted maybe 1/3 of my onion sets, need to clear some more ground to finish planting them.

I can't trust my weather, which is usually quite cold until mid April so I've got shallots and onion sets tucked onto planting modules in the house. I have a small portable greenhouse thing I keep in the house for houseplants, and the alliums are tucked in with them for the time being. Some have already rooted, most are still thinking about it, but all will get there before planting out time.

I put 40 shallots in 3 inch pots on the shortest day, they were planted out last weekend, I have planted 80 or so sets both red and white out as well. I always set them in modules until they have sprouted, it seems to stop the birds pulling them out and they tend not to get pushed out by frost. All will take this cold spell fine.
