Cook anything long enough and hot enough and it gets rid of the "badness".

Think salmonela, bse, ecoli etc.

I'd happily roast, or very hot stir fry those cashews as long as they weren't mouldy.

Glad i read all of this as I have been munching through a lot of cashews recently(big bag,opened,fair game),not raw just a lot less of them than last week....
