Just thought I'd pass on a tip that is very highly followed here in the Bordeaux grape-growing area for those of you who are growing grapevines.  If you plant a rose bush at the end of one of your rows of grapes if there is a fungal problem coming up it will infect the rose before the grapevine so you have chance to sort it out before it gets to your vines.   

That's why you often see vineyards with rosebushes at the end of the line of vines.

Thanks for that Carolyn.  I've often wondered why we had a couple of rose bushes in our garden where the vines were.

We intend to have a new one in a different part of the garden this year so will certainly have a couple of roses too.  Great tip!!
