I grew Cambridge Favourites, Sonata, El Santa and Darselect last year and all were delicious although the El Santa probably produced slightly the more fruit and C. Favourites the least.

For flavour, Cambridge Favourite.  Also like Florence.

Different people like different varieties because there are hundreds to choose from.

My way is to get what I can FREE runners from neighbours... plant them seperately if you want and mix them up for eating. That way you will get all flavours and end up with great tasting bowl... ad sugar and cream and delicious.

BTW - I do this with runner beans as well (not the cream part  :D) I plant a about 7 varieties and mix them when picking, cut them up, blanch and freeze. I get a great selection of tastes and actual shapes and it produces a really good mix.

I grew Cambridge favourites last year. They don't store for more than a day or two but they taste fantastic.

This year I'm ripping out my perpetuals (albion, I think) as they've been bland and hard. I'd rather have sweet, juicy ones even if the season's far shorter.

Elsanta is good for me. I have tried Florence as well - okay but not as good as Elsanta.

I grew "Temptation" from seed 2 years ago, after the first year of them being in containers and not really giving much fruit, but who would expect them to from seed in the first year, not me.  Last spring I planted them on in some really poor clay soil at the time as it was the only space I had free for them, they produced lovely sweet juicy strawberries in the summer and tasted how I remembered strawberries was supposed to taste, not like the rubbish bland ones you buy in supermarkets.  I can't comment on how long they keep for, as they tended to be eaten as fast as they was growing  :D   I took runners off them in the autumn and will be planting them on this year, can't wait.
This is my Allotment, There are many like it, but this one is mine. Without my Allotment I am nothing, without me, my Allotment is nothing
