Just after I started on my plot I took a trip to the local tip to see what they had for sale.
Mooching through the tools i found this strange contraption .It has three pairs of interlocking spike wheels on a frame with a socket for a handle.The whole device measures about ten inches square.I liked the weirdness of it so i duly paid the two quid price.A bargain I thought .What the hell is it and how do you use it ?Took up the lottie put the other end of the hoe in its socket and run it across the ground and it scarified the soil .So brilliant, so simple.When was dry I used it to scarify between the rows so when it did rain it would soak into the softened soil instead of run off.I dont know what I would do without it now.It looks to me as it could be of a Victorian design but was made in Taiwan.Any one know what it is or what it is called ?I call it The WhizzerBecause it is whizzed over soil and the soil is lovely and friable.

It looks similar to a Star Wheel Weeder but mine only has one line of wheels .Every Lottie should have one.If you can find one ,get it and cherish it .They are GOOD. Thanks a lot .
