2nd hand greenhouse
« on: March 19, 2008, 20:50 »
Just bought a 2nd hand greenhouse of ebay and dismantled most of it. Glass out and ready for washing. Most of frame down and dismantled.
The last bit the base frame is stuck to concrete and shows no screws attaching. I can only think that it must have peg system buried in the concrete. Dont want to prise it up so that it bends. Only answer is to sledge hammer concrete sides and hope it breaks lose. Anyone have advice or anyone having been through this already.
 Thanks alan   :?

Wish I had read all your tips on the other thread before starting dismantling today. Thankfully labelled glass and have stacked frame into sides and roof piles wish I had done a better diagram tho.

Can you slide a hacksaw blade between baseframe and concrete ?

Might be an option.

Do you have a wire detector, you know the ones for finding cables in walls, if it is a peg or owt metal these would find it then you only have break the concrete in that area.

find a nice friend with an angle grinder and use a concrete cutter disc and do a V cut all the way round - dont forget the dust mask!
Might be worth just doing the corners and middle first as thats the logical fixing points if pinned down....  have a good look to see if there are any rivet points ......

All sorted with the help of a man with a hammer drill. Just got to put it all back together again.

Should be easy enough then.
We will need to see pictures though.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Absolutely not, we're all just waiting here casually to see progress.
But did you know that it took John (our leader) about 2 years to erect one greenhouse - and him writing a book and all!
