Title: first ever allotment. Aaah!
Post by: rowanelle on April 27, 2021, 14:51
First ever allotment.  Previous guys dismantled greenhouse and left broken on site. Brambles galore. dumping ground to bottom of plot and a 'shed' - lost for words. 2 nice apple trees, is there anyway to know what variety they are yet?  1 pear tree - can't get near it yet.  3 small tree somethings - to be explored and a damson - bottles of gin ready in expectation of good crop. 4 grape vines - have no idea about them.  So I can deduct from the plants so far it's great for alcoholics.
No access to vehicles on site so a bit awkward to shift stuff on or off but I like a challenge.
Look forward to learning the ropes.
Hello to you all.

If it’s council owned get them to sort collection of the rubbish when you’ve cleared it. Hope you can have bonfires that could get rid of a lot of weeds & brambles for you. Take lots of photos, good to inspire you if you feel you’re not getting anywhere, also can start a diary on here.

taking pics of plot is first on my list on Friday. Shed to patch up. tackle dumping area to see what is in there - old holey wheelbarrow I can see it will be sunk in the ground and used as a fire pit when allowed. Getting more excited.

Hi! I have just joined as well.  Love damson gin and use the gin soaked damsons for crumbles! Someone once told me they dipped the gin soaked damsons in chocolate, but my first attempt at that failed.
