Bessie is so happy this morning, even a bark of joy as I put on my raincoat to venture into the deluge with her. Big advantage with a lab ..... she's practically waterproof and only needs a quick rub with the towel.

Bella looks so well and obviously has a wonderful home. As plum says, it could all have been so different!

Latest news on Bessie ....... Poor girl has broken her toe and was put in plaster to the elbow  :(

She was doing a serious bit of hunting with Ben ( I suspect they were after a sneaky fox who had been eyeing the chickens ) and returned very lame. The ground is so soft that after the cows had churned up the turf, I expect she found a nasty stone protruding.

We got rid of the swelling then took her for xrays to confirm a broken toe. The vet plastered it but I have now removed it this morning. It was damp, her nails and the splint were protruding through the bottom and I was worried about her foot getting manky. In fact it was insufficiently padded.

Anyway, I have redressed it with a short, padded dressing. Luckily after spending many hours with a famous greyhound vet I know how to do this. She is her usual happy self, tough as old boots and not a care in the world. Hopefully, when she is healed and the weather improves we will go to the seaside.  :)

No further news of the puppies unfortunately except that poor little Max broke his leg ..... must be a family trait.

Poor Bessie - she has a 'what have I done now' look on her face. Lucky her to have you able to look after her so well. Hugs to Bessie.

Aww, look at that face.  I'm sure she'll soon be mended, especially if she knows she is getting a visit to the seaside. :)

Poor girl, and poor you having to fork out for yet another vet's bill!  Glad she is now on the mend again.  It really sounds like she should be a cat with her 9 lives!!!   ::)
