Sad I Know But... (with pics)
« on: April 10, 2012, 17:28 »
Made some of them newspaper pots, planted 2 lots of toms in them, when they start to come through, (I believe the roots will poke out of the paper) do i just plant the whole thing in the ground then?

I hope I understand what you are asking so...

I wouldn't plant them out just as the seeds start to come through.Wait until they are well established plants about 5" high.
Harden them off  and when planting make sure the tops of the paper pots are well below the ground or they may act like a wick and dry the plant.

Also plant them quite deep as they will send out more roots formt he side of the stem and it will make the plants stronger. :)

Bit of a spiv arnt you with your nice square pots that fit into trays better  :D

I'm only jealous as I spent hours making over 100 round ones and they don't fit all that well in the trays

Seriously posh pots.  I'm running short of pots for some unknown reason this year so might have  a go at these.  Did you shape them around something dopey?

Plant them deeper, and it'll produce more roots from the stem?? Never heard that before.

Does this work for all/most other plants??

Thinking of doing a few 1,000K and sticking them on ebay, you never know this time next year I could be set up in China making fake ones and flooding the market!!

I thought they would be better than round ones and go in the trays better, there  just folded i didn't use anything

Found this, its the same as mine

however mine are just boring round ones.
i saw the video on you tube a few days ago but recond they'd take longer to make than the round ones.

Good link DD but with the ones I did, you can make different sizes by just ripping the page, the bigger the sheet the bigger the pot, and no equipment needed

Small one is 1/2 a page the bigger one a full page

The round ones (DD's link) are deep ones so good for deep rooting plants
