Title: Hot peppers

Well the race is on... will the British summer kill off my hot peppers before they ripen  :unsure:

Mind you they look hot even in the green...

I got the same problem with my scotch bonnet, the plant is rather large and plastered with flowers but as of yet not a single fruit  :(

That's either a Bhut or Trinidad scorpion the label has gone awol  :nowink: It's always a risk with the long season peppers, especially if you don't get them in early. I'll be trying to over winter those this year so they have a good run next season.

I don't really get what has gone on with my chillis n peppers this year - my tomatoes have generally been great but only a couple of different chillis have got any fruit. Most are just sitting there in the greenhouse with 'nowt going on. All the plants have been treated the same.
2 years ago great crops from a variety of plants, last year, well, not bad. This year... meh!
Perhaps I'm on a three year cycle!

I grew these one year and they are a late finisher.  I was sure I wasn't getting anything, but the plant went on to produce a huge, huge crop. 

Mine was in an unheated greenhouse and I had to chuck fleece over it each night towards the end.  I think it was easily the end of October before I was picking.  You can see from here that I have squashes all picked and stored on the bench and an overwintering crop of spring onions on the go, so this is late on in the year.  Don't give up yet  :)

I give mine a spell outdoors to let the bees and hoverflies get to work. Being outdoors also helps with insect problems as they suffer far less when outdoors. If a gale looms I bring the the biggest ones back inside and fleece the smaller ones. I keep them on a slatted table outside

I have had loads of fruits but not so many turning red as yet but I eat them in the green regardless  :tongue2:
