Title: Early early purple broccoli
Post by: turnpike on July 26, 2010, 10:53
I'm growing early purple sprouting broccoli for the first time and am a bit confused as to why they are flowering already.  Shouldn't they not be ready for harvest until next year?

Thanks,
Turnpike

Sounds like they've "bolted" due to the warm, dry weather.

Ah yeah, thanks, I've just read around about bolting.  Looks like they've bolted.  Is it worth cutting off the heads or are they no good now?

I think they've probably had it.

Could I have eaten the purple bits, or are they different from what I should have had next year?  I did put 2 or 3 in later so I'll leave those ones.
