It's quite simple.  Garlic reducing chicken poo smells is either wishful thinking motherhood bullsh*t or it works for some unknown (to me) reason.  I don't know for sure which.

Thanks HF, I couldn't ask for more than that!

I'm a born sceptic, but was advised to put garlic in water before I even got the girls, so gave it a go.  Then got to thinking, 'that's just silly', so stopped. . .  and the aroma started.

It's not nasty, but not as nice as roses .  And only really notieable on warm days.  As I go down the steps, just get a whiff of 'chicken'.  When they have garlic in water, the whiff disappears.

I can't run a proper trial, so can't proove anything.  But I take some convincing . . . and I'm convinced :D

if you think it works then keep on using it, garlic is good for people and no reason why it isn't good for hens  :)
Staffies are softer than you think.

Quite right Joy except that I don't know why garlic is good for people other than it's a flavour enhancer, and chickens, believe it or not, are a completely different species from humans. So there's no rational reason to believe it will be good for chickens. :D

You're quite right again Joy no man should seek to question a woman's intuition.  It passes all understanding.  Why, where would we be if it weren't for womens intuition, we'd have to choose our own winning lottery numbers and there's just a chance we might get them wrong!
