Hi All,

Planted some Bocking14 comfrey root cuttings this Spring, they've done ok growth wise, now some of them have what look like flower heads appearing.

Do i need to cut them off or are they sterile as they're suppsed to be ?

Take them off, not because of self seeding (they wont) but because it makes for a stronger plant in the long run

But then with no flowers you dont get the army of bees that love the flowers :nowink: :nowink:. How could you do this to them.
And as for cutting down, wack the whole plant down a few inches above ground. GL.

I have 2 plants in pots purely so I can just watch the army of bees. Would say there has been about 2 to 3 bees constantly on the plants all day long. Im trying to work out which bees you can stroke without them stinging you and been killed. There was a program on a few weeks back where it did show you.

Dont wack it down in the first year . Leave it to grow on.

Hello Praxx!!! I'm in Poole too!!! Where are  you? Dont tell me if you dont want too, I understand. I'm just gonna leave my comfrey,  and let it do what it wants this year, I have a plot at Alder Farm Allotments.
