Title: Chinese New Year
Post by: mrs bouquet on January 22, 2020, 08:42
The day of celebration is this Saturday, 25th January, and it is the year of the Rat.   If you are a "Rat" person, it signifies that you will have wealth, but also be prone to illness.

Do you like Chinese food and be celebrating this event ?   I have got a tin of Beef in Black Bean Sauce

Get your Woks out,    regards and a Happy New Year !!   Mrs Bouquet

I used to live up the road from a decent Chinese takeaway on the edge of a small town which used to put on a good loud show with a good old dragon (it could have been a lion mind), noise, lanterns, Too close to the road for fireworks. Not sure whether it was purely commercial advertising, good fun or what but we all  heard them.

It's also Burns Night on Saturday and we have a Haggis in the freezer so Chinese New Year might have to be another night. I've never known them to occur on the same day before.

A good Chinese New Year event beats Burns Night events any day (despite coming from a family with very Scottish connections).

We're bumping Chinese New year back a day because of this.

We're having the In Laws-just the parents over so we actually get to eat our fill.
I'll be cooking Char sui (red pork), pineapple rice, chow mein, some salmon and something with chicken in it. Maybe honey and sesame chicken.

I have just been looking at the tin of Beef in Black beans, and sadly I will not be eating it.  I don't know how I missed it but it has  4 gms of salt in.     I am only allowed 2 gms per day and that includes everything !
I might just have some rice with some veg stirred in.     I am going to the theatre in the afternoon, so probably won't be home until 7ish.  Late night for me !!  Mrs Bouquet

I am going to the Chichester Theatre to see a Gilbert and Sullivan show.    It is only on for one day, and stars Alistair MaGowan with other star soloists and the BBC3, 26 piece orchestra.    I shall let you know what it was like.     regards,   Mrs Bouquet
