Bokashi
« on: July 15, 2011, 07:49 »
We've been using bokashi bins for kitchen waste for some time. We use the fermented waste as a compost accelerator and it really does seem to work.

It also generates loads of liquid which we're told you can use on plants. Does anyone have any experience of this? How much do you use and what for? How fresh does it need to be? I'm a bit wary of using it on the garden as it's also supposed to be a drain cleaner  ???

I use bokashi and am a big fan of it - it works well dug directly into soil but like you I tend to use it as a compost accelerator.

I like not chucking out food waste - our wheely bin rarely gets full and never smells!
