hi there, Im looking for mite powder. am I aswell just buying diatomaceous earth? there is some for sale on ebay and its a fraction of the price of branded mite powder. what does everyone else use?

what is the name of the other one and how does it compare weight for weight. some of these mixtures are simply DE such as smite organic.

There is a place for both Diatomaceous Earth (DE) and other mite treatments.  I use DE as a mite prevention in the coop, and hope it's enough to keep them at bay!  But I also have a 'chemical' mite treatment on standby in case I have an outbreak and need to take drastic action.

I bought a big bucket of the Ebay diatom. It was loads cheaper than the small tubs of branded red mite powder from the farm shop and it's exactly the same stuff, as far as I can tell.
