 well not me personally, Bramble is. We took her to the vet last Wednesday because she was getting a bit tubby. She hadn't been showing any signs, then suddenly she grew. As we lost one of our cats last year due to a tumour which was only evident in her last week I was concerned this may be the same. I know there are too many cats needing new homes, all 6 of ours have come from Cats Protection, however when the vet couldn't say for definite what was there and although she's a house cat, she followed the dogs out one day and didn't come back for 48hrs, we decided to have a scan. There are at least 2 beautiful tiny kittens :D I apologised for being so happy but the other possibility was just too heartbreaking.
The vet had a good old look and declared they would be here within the week  I don't know anything about cat births so I looked in the allotment search and up came caralou's thread :) It's been very helpful and it's put my mind at rest. We're patiently ::) waiting and watching her grow, from behind when she's sitting down, she looks like a pear :nowink: she waddles like a duck  and has that look of inevitability about her. Fingers crossed it won't be much longer for her :)
-
aww they are lucky to be born in such a loving pet friendly household. Will you be keeping the little ones to add to your household of pets?
Don't forget we will all want to see pics straight after the birth (and I assume mum cat will be spayed after this little happening ;) )
-
A lovely outcome for you and echoing Joyfull, we'll need piccies of the fluffy bundles.
-
Oh yes, she will be off to the vets with her sister Willow, as soon as the kits are weaned and the kits will have a forever home here with us :D The scan was amazing, we could see their tiny faces and teeny weeny paws 8) Their mum was very young and very pregnant when she was taken to Cats Protection, she had 7 kits, all survived. Fingers crossed Bramble has a bit fewer than that ;)
-
aww in which case they will have a lovely forever home with you :)
-
Lovely news :D
-
As soon as they arrive Eils will post pictures :D wee Evie (who's not so wee now) and Josh have here today, they've been very gentle with her, rubbing her tummy and singing to her making her purr very loudly 8)
-
Still waiting ::)
-
Still a barrel on legs?
-
Take it she was a kitten from Cat's protection, as normally they are spayed.
It is fun to watch them grow etc, My little cat was born to my sister in laws cat, so we know her date of birth, time, she was a breech birth, the eldest kitten and have a picture of her when she was just born.
All kitten's stayed in the family or neighbors, so we have seen them grow, have photo's ect. Sadly my sister in law kept the runt and sadly he passed away. :(
He was week from the start though.
Fingers crossed all will be well, mum does all the hard work, you get all the fun bits. :)
-
I can't believe she still hasn't had them, she eats, sleeps, comes downstairs, eats, sleeps, goes back upstairs and poddles to the latrine. Not impressed by the vet, I thought he would have been more in the know especially as she was scanned and I gave him 2 possible dates. We're now looking at bank holiday weekend. Poor Bramble.
All our cats are from CP, these 2 were smaller at 13 weeks than our first 2 were at 6 weeks. Several friends have had their kittens die during their spaying ops, so we were waiting until ours were bigger before we had them done. Our fault completely.
-
I wasn't blaming anyone. Accidents happens, you'd already explained she had slipped out.
We waited till our little one was 8 months before the op,as she was small.
Lucky she was a scardy cat, so did not want to venture out, even now, if you shut the door she is back like a shot. :D
A new born Mog.

We have 2 cats, male and female, both fixed. Our neighbours have cats -none fixed- why waste money on operations to sterilise cats and dogs is what the neighbours think! One neighbour had over 20 feral cats at one time- which was good for catching the rats, gradually they all left home and the rats thrived! We could do with them back!
Nothing nicer than a new born kitten! Hope there is just 2 for you!

I learnt quite a lot about kitten births when the allotment cat had 4 last May.
She may hide away to have them privately and then she may move them about after a week. At least if you keep her indoors, you'll know where she puts them!! :D
-
I wasn't blaming anyone. Accidents happens, you'd already explained she had slipped out.
No, I knew you weren't, I still feeling guilty ;) Aww a baby Mog :)
We're still waiting ::) she looks so fed up and fat but that didn't stop here racing to scof all the dry cat food
-
She is just a few minuets old there, that's what you have to look forward too.
They had a box for the mum, but she kept moving them, so they moved them back, till she gave in and stayed there.
She popped around 7.18 in the evening.
-
I'm getting rather excited :D she's asleep on the bed atm having a dream, every things twitching  she looks like a mini rugby ball with legs bless her :)
-
Have we become a grandma yet ? :D
-
Sadly no :( there are at least 4 big kittens there and they're quite active. She spends her time in daughters bedroom where she has 3 possible birthing places and if we're upstairs she comes to have her ever expanding tummy rubbed :) For her sake, I hope she only has a few more days to wait.
-
Aw, every time you post I think they have arrived!
Poor l'il cat. Hope they come soon.
-
She's come down for food and a cuddle, she's huge, I'm sure she's bigger than she was this morning
-
I think when the vet said "they will be here within the week", he actually meant "Month" ! :D
-
She's taken to hiding under some shelves but when she hears, 'come on Bramble, dinners ready', she's out like a shot ::) However she's showing some signs that it might be in the next few days ;)
I still find it strange that 7 years of training, many years in practice, a scan and specializing in small domestic animals, you can be so wrong ::)
-
we have 2 :D number 3 is being awkward ::)
-
Oh, fingers crossed it sorts itself out!
Gald the other 2 are out ok ;)
-
Kitten 3 is out and snuggled in with the other 2 and kit number 4 is being cleaned :D OH made some tea so I'm ready for the next trauma ;)
-
At last! Hope everything is OK. :D
-
Wow!
So exciting :D
-
I hope she stopped at 4 :). Kittens are so sweet, will there be pics in a day or two? Pretty please
-
Just going to ask, but snowdrops beat me to it. How many ?
Need pic's and descriptions. :D
-
We had 4 after 4 hours, so we thought that was it. Bramble and the kits were all clean and snoozing, so we had dinner and another cup of tea :) After about an hour or so we checked the new family. Still 4 kits but they and the nice clean nest were soaking wet  30 minutes later when we had dried them off and cleaned the nest number 5 appeared  a bit of a surprise but we did think there could have been 5 :) Another round of cleaning up and Bramble, the kits and me had a nap :) then at around 8 pm Eils came to get me because she thought something was happening, she was right, as soon as I got to Bramble she let out such a cry and number 6 was born  :) another ginger and big. There are photos, some a bit gory, we'll post the nice ones as soon as we can :D they're beautiful 8)
-
Lovely :)
-
Wow, you're going to be up to your ears in them :D. I hope that's all for now folks :D
-
She's such a laid back cat, she didn't get worried when we 'helped' in fact she was happily lay on her back having her tummy rubbed purring away while the first 2 were born :D she didn't mind Mists frequent visits or Willow using the litter box, she's been to have a drink too and now they are all asleep :D
-
Well done Bramble! Six, blimey, what a handful. Looking forward to pics. :D
-
Six ! No wonder she looked like a beach ball with legs.
I think you may have to find homes for some, I know when you thought it was 2, you were gonna keep them, but 6 ?
-
6 names .... well as Bramble is Mum, then how about Berry and Apple and Currant (currantbun for pet name) ... now I'm stuck ....
-
You could have jam, gooseberry, Logan,Tay,peaches :). Hope they are all doing well.
-
The first one born is sand coloured and Eils has named it Nala whether it's a girl or boy, that's it's name she said ::) One has the same markings as our beloved Merlin, hope it has the same temperament, he was calm and gentle :D We have 2 dusty grey kits, Ash is their name as we can't tell them apart atm :nowink: :nowink: One has similar markings on its head as Bramble, that one's Minime for now :) Last but not least there's our ginger, who as you will probably have guessed by now is known as Ging, not very original I know but it's only until we find a name that suits it's personality, so being ginger it will no doubt be called menace no mater what ;)
-
Wow, six babies - I can't wait to see the pics.
-
Their is an advert near us for kittens for sale, Titled " Mum's Had Enough" and the little boy in the advert is called, " Chumlee".
He looks so cute. :)
-
I'm a bit superstitious so didn't want to say what has happened in the past 40hrs but now I can.
After Ging was born we thought there was another baby but nothing happened and Bramble settled down with the kits :D However, yesterday morning she was still bleeding and it became clear she had an infection. She was taken as an emergency to the vets and she confirmed what we had thought, there was another kitten. Bramble had her op and stayed over night. We collected her this morning, her temp is still a bit high so she has an appointment tonight to make sure it's coming down. In the meantime we had the joy of bottle feeding 6 kits, some not even a day old, every 3 hours. To say Eils and I feel like half shut knives is an understatement ::) Mist helped by keeping us company, making sure we toileted the kits properly ;) and that Pip didn't think they were new squeaky toys >:( Poor Pip, he's just very exuberant ::)
Bramble is a fantastic mum she accepted the kits, give them a good clean, nursed them and been cleaned by Mist, as I said, she's very laid back :D
-
So, there was originally 7 kittens ?
I guess no 7 did not make it ?, still 6 is enough. The mums bounce back quick and will take her kittens back. With that number though, you may still need to offer a lending hand, still sister in laws cat didn't mind how much you held her kittens, so long as she could see them.
Glad all is well, and mum is on the mend, but a very worrying time for you all, well done for stepping in. :)
-
She hadn't purred until Eils got home from school :D
-
Oh what a star Bramble is,wishing her a speedy recovery.
-
It's hard working feeding kittens - I had to teach ours to lap kitten formula as we had to take them from the allotment site just after 5 weeks ;)
That was hard enough but newborns need feeding 24/7 - as you found out! Glad Bramble is doing better. :)
-
My sister hand reared 2 kittens whose mother got run over at about 3days old.
-
Been to the vet, Brambles temp is down a bit more, she's very impressed with her 8) we go back on Wednesday morning for her next check however, if we are concerned about anything, they'll see her immediately :)
When I was about 3 my mum found me teaching our neighbours kittens how to eat their kitekat  some pi
We're getting some pics together and hope to post them tomorrow night, Eils has 2 exams tomorrow so she's a bit preoccupied ;)
-
lovely to hear Bramble & 6 little ones are all okay, excellent work from you spotting something was wrong!
would love to see some pics when you have a spare minute ;) :D
-
Brambles temp continues to go down :D She and the kits stayed in our bedroom last night so Eils could get a good sleep before her 2 exams today. I gave the kits a bottle feed, Bramble had a bit of a rest and some food, she was ravenous poor girl, she cleaned and settled the kits and we all fell asleep.
Now, Pip and Mist are spoiled loved and although I never held with pets up stairs let alone sleeping in the bedrooms, Mist had a few problems re toileting at night, so to give her a chance to wake us if she needed out they moved in with us, since then everything has improved. Mist's a very mothering dog and has been very protective of Bramble and the kits, she kept checking on them last night and round about 2.30am I was woken by kits crying, I investigated. Two kits were in the nest on their own  Bramble had decided under the shelves in out bedroom, a place she'd been checking out last week, was the perfect place to make a new nest ::) I had to close them in the nest box carry case she was so determined to move them.
After tomorrows check up she can choose her new nest site but until them I'm the boss, well I like to think so anyway ;)
-
Trying to post pictures but failing pitifully :(
-
Here is Melly and Minime
-
Ahhhh! Was worth the wait for the photies (melting). ::) :D
-
Here is Nala (sandy coloured one) the first one born and Ash 1&2 (grey coloured one) the second and third born
-
Heres Amber/Garfield depending on the sex (the one that caused all of the trouble ;))
-
Bramble, Nala and Minime
-
Bottle feeding was not as easy as it seemed
-
And then finally mummy came home and they settled for some milk off of her :)
-
aaaawwwwwwwww!
-
Oh how cute they are & so tiny, hope everyone goes from strength to strength. :)
-
gorgeous :)
-
There is a lot of loud AWWWWWWWWWWW-ing going on here in Plymouth!!
Reminds me of my babies last May!!
And yes bottle feeding is not easy - luckily I managed not to have to do much of that! :D
-
awww! :)
-
Thankfully, our clever little mum is doing it all herself now so no more bottle feeds every 2hrs :D She's settled them in their new nest under the shelf at the bottom of Eils bed :D and Mist can be found laying there, noise in the nest making sure everything's as it should be ;) Check up next week and if all's well, she'll be discharged :D
-
They are just beautiful.
-
Bramble is definitely on the mend and the kits are putting on weight, they've grown so much in 6 days :D Last night she commandeered Eils bed and although there's only 7 of them she took the whole bed  This morning we lost her and 4 of the kittens  we look everywhere we'd seen her checking out and still couldn't find her :( then I heard a faint tinkle (she's the only one with bell on her collar) and there she was coming out of the linen cupboard :) we hadn't looked there ::) Now she and 6 cute kits are installed in their new safe place :D until she decides to move them again that is ;)
-
Bramble continues to go from strength to strength :D There was no set back from her surgery, she just got in there and nursed the kits and they were equally as enthusiastic :D She obviously decided the bathroom was a bit too busy so they're all nicely settled in our bedroom under the shelves where she's been trying to get to all along ::) It's fine by me, I can keep an eye on them ;)
Eyes have begun to open, Milly and Simbas are completely open while the others have one open or both beginning to open :) Their ears are still closed but they're beginning to come away from their head. Bramble has begun to leave the nest for half an hour at a time to have a bit of me time. Mist can often be found with her nose in the nest cleaning mum and kits :nowink:
-
It's an amazing experience isn't it!
Mine was a bit stressful, but then mine were born to a feral cat on the lottie so no wonder!! :D
I still have my 2 babies - the other 2 went to good homes (Ben wouldn't let me keep them all with the 2 big cats as well!!)
-
So Loki (big ginge) met his new companion Simba (little ginge) and he wasn't too impressed :tongue2:
-
Mummy and her beautiful babies, one week old when this picture was taken :D
-
Millie found her feet yesterday and opened her eyes for the first time :)
-
So these were the smallest two the little grey ones, they have now grown and are the noisiest two :tongue2: here is Ash 1&2
-
More awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwing coming from Plymouth :)
-
This is Millie (the one with ginger on her face) and this is Bell (the one with black lines under her eyes) :)
-
They are so lovely :)
-
And lastly we have Nala (the light coloured one) and Simba (the dark gingered one) :)
-
The tabbies are beautiful
-
so cute :D
-
I'm liking little Nala. :)
-
They are all so adorable. I wish I'd had my two when they were kittens. :)
-
My oh had his cat from 2 weeks old, the mother had died he used to get up every 3 hours in the night to feed him how many men would do that!
-
Beautiful babies but I think I am in love with Nala and Simba.
-
Bramble went to the vet yesterday for her check up and the kits went too. We saw the vet who operated on her, she's delighted with her progress and has discharged her.
For such a poorly cat she's done a tremendous job with the kittens. They all have their eyes open now, are feeding well and are growing :D They're still in our room, we tried putting them back in daughters room yesterday but Bramble got very grumpy and moved them all back  She also got a bit grumpy with Ali and took Millie out of his hand and hid her ::) Mist continues to 'help' look after them and Willow has joined in too. Pip just sits looking at them, they're too wee to play with so he's not that bothered.
Nalas colour is beautiful and apparently unusual, she has very faint bands of ginger on her back. Simba's a real character, a typical ginger with the 'I'm here' gene, he's the biggest and should have been called Bluto  anyone who has a ginger will know what I mean ;) Ash is still the runt of the litter but he's a fighter and we always try to get him time with mum on his own, he's the size now, Simba was when he was born, we've tried to give him an extra feed with a bottle but he's not having it and we decided he'd expend more energy fighting against it than he would taking it, we'll continue to give him a helping hand when we can :) Shadow is the quiet one, he just gets on with it and gives Simba a good old slap when he tries to push him off mum ::) Both greys have beautiful tabby markings :) All 4 are boys, yes even Nala ::)
Millie has such a beautiful face and tends to get lots of cuddles from everyone. More than one person has said they want her but sorry she's staying put :D Bella is also a quiet one but just like her brother she'll give Simba a slap if he tries his ginger shenanigans :) Both tabby's have very striking markings on their face, Millie looks like she has eye liner on and Bella has little strips of ginger like her mum :D Both are girls :)
Bramble leaves them in the nest now and comes out for a rest, I don't blame her, only going back to feed and clean them so we've been told to start weaning them from next week as they spend the first 10 days skiddling in their food. Just like human babies really
-
Are you keeping all 6?
-
Wellllllll wee Evie and Josh haven't seen them yet and I know they want one but it's up to my daughter and I know she wants Millie who reminds her of Merlin :) another daughter would really like 1 also but she already has 2 and 1 of them is a Bengal, both are very spoiled and I don't think they would take kindly to any interloper :nowink:
I know 10 cats seems ridiculous ::) however we would rather have them live with us than just give them away to people we don't know will look after them :)
My children have always said I would end up being the mad cat woman with chickens popping in and out to see if there's anything tasty in the kitchen, wouldn't want to disappoint them ;)
-
  & how many dogs?
-
Just 2 so far ;)
-
We've taken some more pics which we'll put up in a bit, unfortunately we missed the one where Bramble pinned Simba down so she could clean him, it was very reminiscent of me and Ali when he was little
-
How are the bundles of fluff ? Been a while, must be huge by now. :D
-
They're 7 weeks and growing fast :D Apart from Ash, they all weigh 700g, she is a delicate 625g :D We have so many photographs it's hard to pick which ones to post. They are into everything nothing is sacred when you're a 7wk old kitten ::) This morning Bella and Rupert made a break for freedom and climbed the stairs to visit me in the bedroom, something I wasn't expecting for a few weeks yet. They all have different characters and as expected Rupert is up for a cuddle at the drop of a hat, typical ginger :D Wee Evie is having Ash and Josh, Bella, I'll be sad to see them go but at least they're staying in the family :D OH took a lovely picture of Mist and Rupert together, I'll get Eils to post it :D
-
Tell me about nothing being sacred! ::)
Our 4 feral kittens were into everything too.
We're in Crete at the mo and found 2 (hopefully) feral kittens (hoping no-one just dumped them ). One is a ginger and one tortie. Very cute - and they like ham
Can't be more than 6 weeks old  awwwwwww
-
Aww poor babies :(
-
I know! I just want to hide them in my suitcase :D
Feeding them every day we can since I spotted the little ginger one ;)
-
Eils finally had some mother/daughter time and has got round to uploading the pictures onto my laptop :D
This is Bella, just as beautiful as the name suggests, however the new owner (Josh and my daughter) have renamed her Polly because she likes to sit on peoples shoulders and have a catnap :D
Picture 2 is her first bath last week, she was too shocked to be frightened
-
Rupert and Percy/Neville are the next :)
The darker ginger being Rupert and the lighter ginger being Percy
Yes Eils inspiration was Rupert Grint and Percy Weasley/Neville Longbottom (yes as you guessed Harry Potter inspired) Percy's in the empty water bowl, he was bamboozled by the bath
-
More of the gingers
-
so cute :D
-
Little Ash is next :D
-
Millie aka mini me :)
And Shadow :D
-
ahh little darlings :D
-
So adorable!!! :)
-
More kitten pictures :)
This is Shadow
-
And now Ash :)
-
This is beautiful Bella :D
-
Little Millie :D
-
Percy is next :)
-
And finally 'baby' Rupert :tongue2:
-
Millie and Bella (they look like twins, just one is fluffy) :nowink:
-
All six of them together :tongue2:
And three of them having a little rest with their fantastic mummy :D
-
Misty takes being a mummy to Rupert very seriously ::)
-
Don't they look gorgeous all together. :D
-
They made changing the bedding interesting, what should have been a 5min job was more like a 30min scrum and yes, they do have their own wee rugby ball to play with ;) :D
-
They are all so lovely!! If I were able to have one, I would not know which one to choose!
Pamela
-
I love Percy's colour :)
-
He's beginning to get faint stripes now but he'll never be a dark ginger :D
-
Not really a cat person, but they are adorable. :D
