cleaning duck eggs
« on: March 22, 2010, 22:55 »
hi all looking for advice on cleaning duck eggs the friend we got our runners from said to just wipe with damp cloth but sometimes our ducks like to play football with them or so it seems so they can be soiled I have been told that duck eggs are more pourous than chicken eggs so you need to be more careful is it ok to wash eggs? and should they be refridgerated I was under the impression that are better not ???

My brother keeps ducks and when he brought me some eggs I was told to keep ALL eggs at room temperature. Ducks eggs are more porous and should be wiped clean, but if all else fails, use warm water rather than cold. I only washed mine immediately before they were to be used to be on the safe side.
