Sorry Ema, but I have used this stuff and it is rubbish.  It won't stop the persistent weeds breaking through.

The fleece for covering things isn't too bad, but only lasts a couple of seasons if you are lucky.

If you can stand the slightly unsightlyness of it, newspaper - handily up here in London the free Evening Standard is water based ink, hopefully you might have something similar down in the deep south.

Went and picked up some bike boxes today so they'll do for some of the plot will need a lot more tho

Good idea.  I use cardboard sometimes too!

Hi, I used to use cardboard. It was fine as a short term measure but found it rotted too quickly. Last year I bought some decent woven weed control fabric. It was very heavy duty and worked out very economical as it lasts for years. I found it online. I really don't want to spend more than a years crops are worth on weed membrane. so will be sticking with the cardboard. Those are good prices tho and I will bear in mind that site if I ever get my own garden
