Garlic - Music
« on: April 19, 2013, 12:37 »
I have grown garlic (many types) for 8 years, even from my own seed :) But many people on this site say the best to grow is Music!  Which I want to try, but can't source - where do you get yours from as I need some ready for the 31ts Oct to keep the evils bugs off the plot for another year!!

Thanks  Paul

Here:

But it's the wrong time of year.

October is when you should be planting it, not harvesting it!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I bought mine, as did a few others, from here
http://www.reallygarlicky.co.uk/garlic

They aren't cheap - but you never have to buy seed again, so look on it as an investment  ;)

Keep an eye on their site to see when the seed garlic is available.

You beat me to it - as usual

I've only got 90 self-saved cloves growing happily away, still got quite few left in the garage for culinary purposes. They started life as three bulbs from there.

I'm lucky that I have a number of reasonably local organic garlic farms and most attend the annual garlic festival about an hour's drive from me. I can get quite a few garlic varieties but Music always grows best for me.

I unintentionally miss pulling a few ready heads in fall and come spring I have a number of free plants ready to separate and replant, which is handy as I often need more than I've planted  :D My kids are getting more into cooking with garlic and demand sometimes overwhelms supply  ;)

Certainly hope not for Dave's sake (he's off on holiday soon and won't be wanting to have to see his GP before he goes.)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!
