Ginger
« on: April 04, 2012, 16:37 »
I got some bits of ginger from the supermarket a few weeks back, I was told some place, that the little warts on them if cut and planted would grow (what's to lose??) so that's what i did, 2 weeks later i have about 9 of them sprouting up, now I never really thought they would come up, but they have!! so what the heck do I do with them now?

Seems pretty strait forward (says I) nothing to lose all to gain, I think I will stick it in a few old tyres (err recycled pots) and put it in the shaded side of my shed, and see what happens

This lot's been going for 8 weeks now.  Probably very over crowded, but disn't expect it to do so well! Fingers crossed it will survive transplanting and going outside over the summer!

According to kew gardens it needs a minimum temp of 28 degrees, so you might want to keep it indoors!
